ATLANTA — DeKalb County election officials say two early voters were given incorrect ballots for an Atlanta school board race, due to be decided in November.
There are four contested Atlanta school board races on the ballot. One of them pits incumbent Michelle Olympiadis against her challenger in District 3, Ken Zeff.
District 3 stretches along the line between DeKalb and Fulton counties, from Candler Park to Garden Hills.
A DeKalb County spokeswoman, Sherial Cubit, told 11Alive News Tuesday that county officials are "aware of two instances where City of Atlanta Board of Education District 3 voters received ballots for District 1."
She added "all voters from those precincts will now receive the correct ballot."
Zeff told 11Alive he’s heard from voters who have tried to early vote in the District 3 race but were told by election officials they couldn’t.
"I’m concerned that not everyone’s voice is getting heard in this process," Zeff explained. "We’re waiting for word from the elections folks as to the steps going forward, but we’re concerned not everyone’s voice is being heard."
A Fulton County spokeswoman said an investigation revealed no similar issue.
Early voting indicates the school board election is likely going to be a very low turnout election.
