CHICAGO — Rumors were buzzing across social media Thursday night, with many wondering if music superstar Beyoncé would make a surprise appearance during the final night of the Democratic National Convention. However, despite the growing speculation, the "Break My Soul" singer did not attend.
The anticipation began earlier in the day, fueled by suspected cryptic hints and a well-timed soundcheck inside the United Center.
A social media post on X from Emmy Ruiz, a White House political director, featuring a bee emoji—a nod to Beyoncé’s fanbase, the Beyhive—set the platform ablaze with speculation.
Ruiz later updated the public that her child had taken her phone and made the post.
Adding to the mystery, the convention soundcheck included the artist’s hit song “Cuff It,” sparking excitement among those already gathered for what was expected to be a historic evening.
The energy inside the arena was electric as Kamala Harris prepared to deliver her acceptance speech. Harris famously used Beyoncé’s anthem, “Freedom,” throughout her campaign, leading many to believe the pop icon might appear to show her support. DJ Metro added fuel to the fire, playing Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold Em” during an intermission, causing fans to rise from their seats in hopes of seeing Queen Bey walk out.
Despite the excitement, a source involved in the event's planning told the Associated Press they were not authorized to speak publicly but confirmed that Beyoncé would not attend.
Some fans even speculated that another pop icon, Taylor Swift, might be the night’s surprise guest. At DNC Night 4, music artist Pink dueted with her 12-year-old daughter Willow Sage Hart on her song “What About Us,” Texas stars The Chicks performed a three-part harmony at the United Center.
