Trump campaign events in Atlanta, Powder Springs today | What to know

The former president is set for another campaign stop with a rally at Georgia Tech and faith summit in Powder Springs.

ATLANTA — Fromer President Donald Trump is back in Atlanta on Monday for two campaign stops in the metro area as he targets Georgia with eight days to go until Election Day.

It's the latest in a string of campaign stops for Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris and their running mates in the hotly-contested Peach State.

Here's a brief overview of the former president's campaign events on Monday, which will include a rally at Georgia Tech's McCamish Pavilion in Midtown and a faith summit at a church in Powder Springs.

National Faith Summit event with the National Faith Advisory Board

  • Where: Worship with Wonders Church, 4665 Macland Road, Powder Springs
  • When: Event begins at 2 p.m., doors open at noon
  • Attending: Registration was required ahead of time
  • What's on tap: A release said the event will include faith leaders such as Paula White, Jentezen Franklin, Jack Graham, Kenneth Copeland and former Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback. Former President Trump will "address the importance of standing for biblical principles in these crucial times" and do an interview with Pastor White.

Campaign rally in Midtown Atlanta

  • Where: McCamish Pavilion on the Georgia Tech campus, 965 Fowler St. NW, Atlanta
  • When: 6 p.m., doors open at 2 p.m.
  • Attending: Event registration here
  • What's on tap: Trump will give campaign remarks at the 8,600-seat capacity arena (though it's unclear if all seats will be open for this event). It hasn't been announced if any other headlining names will make an appearance.

Trump in Atlanta | traffic implications

Atlanta Police provided this statement: "In anticipation of former president Trump's arrival to Atlanta on Monday October 28, 2024, traffic will be affected near the area of McCamish Pavilion located at 965 Fowler St NW and the Georgia Tech campus. We ask that people utilize MARTA, rideshares, or carpool. Further information on additional affected areas and streets will be provided at a later time."

Trump's motorcade will probably travel up I-75 to the church, which should include traveling portions of Windy Hill Road off the interstate and then Macland Road. Expect closures ahead of that 2 p.m. hour. Similarly, probably around the 4 p.m. or 5 p.m. hour, Trump will likely travel back along Macland and Windy Hill to I-75 and down I-75 to Midtown, so expect delays and closures. 

Georgia Tech put out a release noting that Fowler Street will be closed between 6th Street and 8th Street, and that I-75/85 will have rolling roadblocks for the escorts.
