ATLANTA — Georgia voters went to the polls Tuesday to cast a ballot in the presidential primary election, and just 11 minutes after polls closed, both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump were projected the winners of their parties' respective primaries.
Biden, a Democrat, and Trump, a Republican, didn't face any significant opposition in Tuesday’s primary contests in Georgia and beyond.

Though total votes are still being tabulated, Biden appears to have formally clinched a second straight Democratic nomination after winning enough delegates in Georgia. He overcame concerns about his leadership from within his own party. Now the presumptive nominee, he faces an all-but-certain rematch with former President Donald Trump.
Trump also won Georgia and was on pace to secure his party’s nomination despite serious political and practical liabilities of his own. The former president, a defendant in four felony cases, was just shy of the threshold needed to clinch the GOP nomination with votes still being collected across Georgia, Washington state and Hawaii.
