Early voting for primary runoff begins Saturday in Fulton County

Advance voting for the runoff elections in Fulton County begin June 8. The official runoff election is coming up on June 18.

ATLANTA — Advance Voting begins this Saturday for two runoff elections in Fulton County. This advance voting period is in preparation of the Special Runoff Election on June 18.

In Georgia, candidates are required to win more than 50% of the votes in order to secure their spots. After none did so after the May 21 primary election, the top two winners in the races for Fulton Commission District 4 and the Georgia Senate District 38 will face off again. The winners of these runoff races will be featured on the official ballot for the elections coming up in November 2024.

Both of these runoff races are for Democrat candidates.

In Georgia, voters can not change their party affiliation between a primary election and a runoff, according to state law. This means that voters must have voted with a either a Democratic or nonpartisan ballot on May 21, or not voted on May 21 to be eligible to vote in the runoff.

There are 10 locations where Fulton County residents can cast their votes during the advance voting period. Voters can find a full list of those locations here

All 10 of these locations will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 8 and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 9. They will all be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday-Friday of the following week.

If voters can’t make it to any of these locations for advance voting, Election Day is on June 18. On that day, voters will be required to cast their ballot at their precinct. Polls everywhere will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Advance Voting in both Cobb County and DeKalb County, however, will not begin until June 10.
