ATLANTA — On June 18, voters in Georgia went to the polls to cast ballots in the 2024 May primary runoff.
Primary elections set the stage for the November general election, whittling down the field of qualified candidates so there is only one candidate from each party up for election come this fall. The runoff comes after a handful of candidates failed to win their races outright during the May primary with the necessary 50% of the vote. During a runoff, the top two vote-getters face off once more, until a winner is determined.
Notable runoff races include the race for Georgia's 3rd Congressional District, the DeKalb County CEO and Clayton County sheriff. There are also several municipal races that will be decided in the June 18 runoff.
Winners from today's election will advance to the General Election slated for Nov. 5.
