Georgia My Voter page temporary outage | What we know

During an afternoon press conference, Secretary of State's Office Chief Operating Officer Gabriel Sterling said the voter page went down for about 45 minutes.

ATLANTA — The Georgia My Voter page temporarily went down during the state's primary election on Tuesday.

During an afternoon press conference, Secretary of State's Office Chief Operating Officer Gabriel Sterling said the voter page went down for about 45 minutes, but it has since been restored.

"It was a situation dealing with the capacity of Sales Force, because there were so many people going to it," Sterling said in the update. "That has since been addressed and the My Voter page is back up and working just fine."

Earlier in the day, voters may have encountered the message below on the website:

According to Sterling, more people than anticipated logged on to the My Voter page. He added that the Secretary of State's Office's vendor Sales Force had to make some structural changes on the back end of the website, and then the website was running normally again.

"It's a good lesson learned for the future when we have the big election in November," Sterling said.

Besides the temporary website outage, Sterling said Election Day has been going smoothly.

"We feel really good about (the way) the day has gone," Sterling added.
