Georgia Secretary of State announces new partner for absentee ballot tracking

Georgia has partnered with Enhanced Voting to bring the Ballot Scout tool to voters across the state, according to a release.
Many have been worried about their ballot making it on-time considering ongoing issues with postal service in Atlanta.

ATLANTA — Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced on Monday that the state has a new partner for absentee ballot tracking, saying the company Enhanced Voting will bring the Ballot Scout tool to voters across the state.

Those who sign up for Ballot Scout will receive notifications about their absentee ballots, according to a release. These notifications include when the county elections office marks their ballot as issued and when it is received back from the voter. The service will offer notifications by text, email or voice call.

The Secretary of State's Office has previously used BallotTrax for a similar function.

According to the Secretary of State's Office, voters who were previously enrolled in similar tracking tools will automatically transition to Ballot Scout. Also, in the coming days, Georgia Voters will be able to enroll in Ballot Scout and check updates on their absentee by mail ballots through the Georgia My Voter Page (MVP).

Sec. of State Raffensperger said that Ballot Scout highlights advancements in how the state manages and tracks ballots.

"With this tool, voters in Georgia can stay informed and confident about their voting experience, knowing where their ballot is throughout the ballot process," Raffensperger stated.

In general, the initiative supports Raffensperger's long-term vision to enhance the security and efficiency of the election process, according to a release. By using the platform, voters can monitor their ballot's journey from the submission of a ballot request to the counting of the ballot -- allowing them the ability to verify that their vote was received and processed correctly.
