Your guide to presidential primary voting in Georgia
The Peach State will vote on March 12. Here's everything you need to know.
Four years ago, Georgia emerged as one of the country's most important political battleground states. Peach State voters once again will have a pivotal say in who wins the 2024 election -- and soon, we'll have an electoral dress rehearsal.
Primary Day in Georgia this year is March 12, the Tuesday after Super Tuesday. Meanwhile, early voting ended on March 8.
Keep in mind -- this primary election is just for the 2024 presidential race. Georgia will have a second Primary Day on May 21 for races like the U.S. House or Georgia General Assembly seats.

Key dates
You can find the state election calendar here from the Georgia Secretary of State's Office. Here are some key dates ahead of Primary Day:
- March 1: Last day to request an absentee mail ballot.
- March 2: Mandatory Saturday early voting.
- March 3: Optional Sunday early voting (this is a county-by-county decision, so check your county's elections office website to see if they're offering it.)
- March 4: The last Monday of early voting. It will continue to be available this week, Monday-Friday, March 4-8.
- March 5: This is Super Tuesday and marks one week until Georgia votes. It's also a decent marker for when you probably want to have your absentee mail ballot sent back. There's no deadline for when it needs to be sent, rather the deadline is that it needs to be received by the close of polls on March 12. That means if you send it on, say, Saturday and the mail doesn't get there in time, it won't count. Best to be too early than too late.
- March 8: Last day of early voting.
- March 12: Primary Day.
