DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — A handful of voters headed to the polls on Tuesday to cast ballots in a special election runoff.
Voters in Douglas County deciding which candidate for County Commission District 2 will fill the position for the remainder of this term. This comes after the previous commissioner decided to retire.
Democrats Whitney Kenner-Jones and Kelton Hill failed to win the necessary 50% plus one of the vote to win the special election race outright back in March. Kenner-Jones led Hill 37% to 21% -- with less than 400 votes separating the two.
According to a campaign website, Kenner-Jones' main priorities include economic development, access to employment and workforce support and supporting a healthy community by leveraging the county's natural beauty.
Hill's website centers him around a lifetime of service, family values and local commitment. He has served the county for three decades and had a 37-year career as a law enforcement officer.
