ATLANTA -- Democratic Governor nominee Stacey Abrams is speaking out about her new opponent Secretary of State Brian Kemp.
The two will face off in the November general election as they fight to be Georgia's next governor.
Soon after Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle conceded in the Republican runoff to Kemp, Abrams voiced her concerns about her new opponent on Facebook.
"If you're not familiar with Republican Brian Kemp, you will be soon. For now, know this: Kemp is wrong for Georgia families," she said.
Abrams beat Stacey Evans in the May 2018 primary. In her Tuesday night Facebook post, she admits she will have an uphill battle to defeat Kemp.
"I’m not going to sugarcoat it: Turning Georgia blue in only 3 months won't be easy, especially against a well-funded opponent like Kemp. But if our people-powered campaign steps up right now, if we focus on the issues and put in the work, we can win."
Before all of the votes around the state were even counted, Cagle took the stage at his headquarters to let his supporters know that he had called Kemp to congratulate him on his victory.

When he conceded, about 66 percent of the votes favored Kemp.
Abrams is attempting to become the nation’s first African-American female governor, while Kemp seeks to continue the GOP’s domination of state government that has existed since 2002.
