Forsyth County to host Trump event with women voters

Dems have made gains in the GOP county since 2016.

CUMMING, Ga. — Republican Donald Trump is expected to record a town hall next week with women voters in Forsyth County. Both Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris have seen a gender gap among their supporters, with men leaning toward Trump and women leaning toward Harris.

At the fall fair in the Forsyth County city of Cumming, the entertainment can serve as an escape from politics. Yet it's rife with booths for Democrats, Republicans and an assault rifle raffle at the Tea Party booth.

Forsyth Republican Alba Henson said conservative women aren’t going to switch to Democrat Kamala Harris just because she’s also a woman.

"I think we are very strong supporters for Trump," Henson said. "The women in Georgia have a lot of power."

Henson expects to be in the audience supporting Trump, as does Forsyth Republican Madison Fields.  She said Trump's positions on abortion have driven some women away from the Republican Party.

"I think he does have a challenge coming up," she said. "I think it is up to the media and his team to get his messages out there and spread the truth."

But not Barb Fuller.

"The derogatory things he’s said about women – 'Oh, she’s fat, I wouldn’t ever rape her because she’s not pretty enough,' and, 'She trailed off.' No. no."

Fuller is among the Forsyth voters who have nudged their county in each election to become less Republican since 2016.

"I don’t know. It seems like most of my friends are Republicans," she chuckled. "It’s so strange."
