2024 DNC | Georgia U.S. Representative shares stage highlighting effects of gun violence across the nation

U.S. Rep. Lucy McBath shared a stage at the DNC to bring awareness to the long-lasting effects of gun violence.

CHICAGO — A Georgia U.S. Representative took to the stage at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday night to raise awareness about the impact of gun violence across the nation.

Rep. Lucy McBath stood alongside those who were survivors and, or lost loved ones in shootings like Uvalde.

McBath lost her son, Jordan, back in 2012 when he was shot and killed at a gas station in Florida. He was 17-years-old. Since her son's death, she has been a prominent advocate in the fight against gun violence.

"Our stories are of loss, but make no mistake -- our losses do not weaken us," Rep. McBath said onstage. "They strengthen our resolve. We will secure safer futures that we all deserve."

She said they will continue to organize, advocate and run for office to make the necessary changes to keep communities safe.

"And we will elect leaders like Kamala Harris who won't just emphasize but will act," she stated.
