ATLANTA — As both presidential candidates and their respective running mates continue to flock to Georgia ahead of the pivotal 2024 election, Republican VP pick JD Vance is slated to hold a rally in Atlanta on Saturday before Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff delivers remarks on Sunday.
The visit from Vance comes just three days after former President Donald Trump spoke in both Zebulon at a town hall and Duluth at a rally to two different audiences as he prepares his efforts to try and flip Georgia back to a red state in 2024.
Vance's speech is set to focus on the state of the economy and the rising cost of living as he addresses the audience at The Georgia Freight Depot at 11 a.m. The event venue is located at 65 M.L.K. Jr Dr. SW.
The doors will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, and the rally will start two hours later.
Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will also headline an appearance in metro Atlanta on Sunday. Emhoff will deliver remarks at a Clayton County block party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27. The event is scheduled to be outdoors and feature music and food. The exact address of the event was not given.
Emhoff's visit will come three days after Vice President Kamala Harris rallied in DeKalb County alongside Barack Obama, Spike Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, Tyler Perry and Bruce Springsteen.
It was also announced that Trump will be in Atlanta on Monday, two days after his running mate's visit. The former president will visit McCamish Pavilion at Georgia Tech for a rally that is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
The early voting period has produced record numbers in Georgia, with the secretary of state's office noting that more than 2 million people have cast their votes thus far. Sec. of State Brad Raffensperger said that he believes the total to surpass 4 million before the period ends on Nov. 1.
