ATLANTA — The Biden administration continues its big push in Georgia for election season, with Vice President Kamala Harris' visit Friday.
She arrived at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport around noon. Before leaving the airport, Harris talked to reporters about gun violence following the Supreme Court's ruling earlier in the morning to strike down a Trump-era ban on bump stocks. Bump stocks are a gun accessory that allows semi-automatic weapons to fire rapidly like machine guns.
"What the court did today is really rolling back what otherwise is important progress to be made to prevent gun violence in America," Harris said.
The high court found 6-3 the Trump administration did not follow federal law when it reversed course and banned bump stocks after a gunman in Las Vegas attacked a country music festival with assault rifles in 2017.

Harris also participated in a conversation at the 100 Black Men of America's 38th annual conference during her Atlanta visit. Steve Harvey was present to moderate the conversation.

In recent months, President Joe Biden has been busy on the campaign trail touting his administration's accomplishments since taking office in 2021. Part of his administration’s campaign strategy leading into November is to educate voters on the progress America has seen under a Biden presidency.
Despite these accomplishments touted by the Biden administration, a March 20 poll by Marist College showed that 52% of Georgia residents disapprove of Biden's job performance.
The president was met with some protests during his recent commencement ceremony at Morehouse College. Students and faculty voiced their concerns about how the president is handling the war in Gaza. It came as Biden made his pitch to the Black community -- especially Black men -- about how he is the president fighting for them. Biden's Senior Advisor, Tom Perez, said in an interview with 11Alive that equity has always been top of mind for Biden.
