ATLANTA — On Thursday afternoon, the White House announced that Vice President Kamala Harris will be kicking off a nationwide "The Economic Opportunity Tour" in Atlanta to highlight the work the Biden Administration is doing for the economy. The vice president's first stop on the tour will be at a yet-to-be-announced location in Atlanta on Monday, April 29.
The series of events, according to the White House, will be "focused on investing in communities, building wealth, and ensuring every American has the freedom to thrive."
"President Biden and I are committed to creating an economy in which every person has the freedom to thrive," the vice president said in the statement announcing the tour. “Our economic approach has delivered great progress, and we will continue to invest in you, your family and your future.”
During the tour, according to the White House, the vice president will list some of the Administration's wins, including infrastructure investments, cutting the price of insulin and efforts to forgive student loan debt for some Americans. Harris will also outline additional steps she and President Biden are taking to expand on their work.
Along the tour, she will be joined by Administration officials, members of Congress, local leaders and other special guests. Details on who those guests will be were not provided.
According to the White House, VP Harris has made more than 35 trips to 16 states since the beginning of 2024.
She was last in Atlanta in early January to focus on protecting voting rights in the state.
