ATLANTA -- While Casey Cagle and Brian Kemp continue their brutal GOP runoff battle for governor, Democrat Stacey Abrams posted her strongest fundraising period to date in Georgia's nationally watched governor's race.
Abrams, seeking to become the nation's first African-American female governor in history this fall, reported $2.75 million for the April-June reporting period. Her campaign noted more than half of that came from contributions under $25.
The campaign also reported it had $1.5 million in cash on hand.
Cagle and Kemp finished first and second, respectively, in the May 22 primary, and are set to face each other again on July 24. Abrams earned a solid win over Stacey Evans in the Democrat primary.
