ATLANTA — Rules were announced for the first presidential debate hosted by CNN in Atlanta on Thursday night.
The media corporation plans to host President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump on the main stage for the first debate of this election cycle at CNN’s Atlanta studios on June 27.
CNN released a list of rules on June 20 that both candidates must follow during the 90-minute debate.
- The debate will include two commercial breaks.
- Microphones will be muted except for the candidate whose turn it is to speak.
- Candidates will not be allowed to bring any written notes to the debate; they will be provided with only pen and paper.
- Interaction with campaign staff during breaks will be prohibited
As the qualification window closes today, there remains a possibility for a third-party candidate to participate, provided they meet CNN’s requirements. However, as of now, no third-party candidate has qualified.
