Rapper Blac Youngsta arrested in Young Dolph shooting

Rapper Young Dolph claimed he was the target in a gunfight.

Rapper Blac Youngsta was among three arrested in connection with an uptown Charlotte shooting.

Rapper Young Dolph claimed he was the target in a gunfight in which more than 100 shots were fired on Feb. 26. Dolph credited bulletproof panels on his SUV for his escape from the incident. There were no injuries reported.

The shooting happened before the final game of the CIAA basketball tournament.

Investigators later recovered a black SUV, a high-powered rifle and a number of cellphones.

Detectives identified Blac Youngsta, whose real name is Sammie Benson as well as Frederick Black and Antavius Garnder as suspects in the case.

On Tuesday, the three turned themselves in at Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office. They're charged with six counts of discharging a weapon into occupied property and felony conspiracy.

After the incident Young Dolph released an album entitled "Bulletproof", prompting some to claim he was attempting to cash in on the shooting. Among the song titles on the album: “100 shots,” “In Charlotte,” and “But I’m Bulletproof.” Dolph is part of Street Execs,an Atlanta-based management company/record label that involves 2 Chainz, Travis Porter, CAP 1 and Skooly.

Blac Youngsta is no stranger to the 11Alive audience. Back in January 2016, the Memphis rapper claimed that police stopped him outside of an Atlanta bank after he withdrew a large sum of money. Police later disputed his account.
