RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. — An aircraft maintenance company is expanding at the Augusta Regional Airport, creating an expected 90 new jobs in Richmond County.
Scottsdale, Arizona-based StandardAero has started a $33 million expansion, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp announced on April 30. The project will add a new hangar and engine shop next to the airport. It's expected to be finished in 2025.
“The new facility will add over 60% of new space to our existing footprint,” Chris Bodine, vice president and general manager of StandardAero’s Augusta facility, said in an announcement. That amounts to about 80,500 square feet.
StandardAero has been in Augusta since 1974 and currently employs 170 workers. It maintains, repairs or overhauls about 425 aircraft per year and 500 turbine aircraft engines.
