TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. — An alligator has been seen swimming in the ocean off the coast of Tybee Island this week.
On Wednesday, Tybee Island Ocean Rescue advised people to stay out of the water near Polk Street after an 8-10 ft alligator was spotted. In an update, officials said the gator moved into deeper water and swam toward the shipping channel.
However, on Thursday, Tybee Island Ocean Rescue said the gator was seen again swimming near North Beach.
"Please stay aware that there’s always a chance of unseen wildlife and hazards in the ocean. Always be cautious!" officials added in a Facebook post.
