Federal courthouse partially collapses in Savannah, 3 hurt

Reports say a portion of the third floor fell down.

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Three people were taken to the hospital after a portion of the floor at the Tomochichi Federal Building collapsed Tuesday in Savannah, according to local reports.

The Savannah Fire Department announced the incident on social media. Emergency crews said a portion of the third floor fell. Multiple agencies responded to the partially collapsed building, according to NBC affiliate WSAV. 

The building has been under renovation and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as it dates back to 1899. Renovations to be made include electrical work, heating, air, ventilation, fire protection and elevator systems, according to WSAV.

Officials did not release the conditions of those who were injured at this time.
