Voters have spoken their peace on the four proposed constitutional amendments and all passed but Governor Deal's opportunity school district, or Amendment 1.
The amendment would have created a state government entity called the Opportunity School District, which would allow the governor to appoint a superintendent to run the failing schools. Gov. Deal was the foremost supporter of the amendment and appeared in several commercials backing it. Teachers, PTA groups and even Mayor Kasim Reed were firmly against it.
