(WJHG) Tiny creatures with a powerful sting are hitting swimmers along some of Florida's beaches.
Sea lice are the babies that bites back.
They're not really lice. It's microscopic larvae of the thimble jellyfish.
"I've seen grown men cry," Walton County Beach Safety Director David Vaughan said. "And I've seen 3-year-old girls take it like soldiers."
The little lice get caught under bathing suits, creating a red, irritating and itchy welt.
"They fire off pneumatosis," Vaughan explains. "It's basically like thousands of little miniature bee stings and that's what causes the irritation."
