Second body recovered from crash site on Lake Lanier

The crash happened earlier in the week and involved another boat on the lake.

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities confirm they have found the body of a second man who died on Lake Lanier after an apparent boat accident days earlier.

The body of 38-year-old Nick Schimweg of Cumming was found and recovered by Georgia Department of Natural Resources Game Wardens just before 6:30, Saturday. The body was first spotted through a sonar scan about 50 feet from the crash site and 54 feet down.

The region of the lake is covered in standing and fallen timber according to the DNR spokesperson Mark McKinnon.  Schimweg's body was recovered by a remote operated underwater vehicle and turned over to the Forsyth County Coroner.

Authorities are still investigating what led to the accident which involved another boat and several people - one with traumatic injuries but none that were expected to be life-threatening.

On Thursday, crews found the body of 59-year-old Brianislav Prazich in 33 feet of water near the crash site.
