Incident report reveals new details in deadly Apalachee High shooting

BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — The Barrow County Sheriff's Office released an incident report on Tuesday, which provides new details into the Apalachee High shooting that killed two students and two teachers in September. 

According to the report, a caller stated that his 14-year-old son was in the classroom where two of the victims were shot. Deputies met with the 14-year-old and his parents, and they provided authorities with the teen's shirt, which had blood on it. 

In the report, a deputy stated he was standing in the atrium of Apalachee High School, when gunshots erupted. 

"When we heard gunshots, we headed toward them," the report stated. "The suspect (Colt Gray) was apprehended shortly after." 

According to the report, another deputy had been working security at Apalachee High School. He advised the cleaning crew had found "a fired bullet inside the school."

On the morning of Sept. 4, lives were forever changed at Apalachee High School in Barrow County.  On that day, the GBI said at 10:20 a.m., the Barrow County Sheriff's Office received alerts about reports of an "active shooter." 

During a news conference later that day, the GBI said two students and two teachers were killed in the shooting.

The GBI also identified the accused shooter as Colt Gray, who is a student at Apalachee High School. Colt Gray is facing four counts of felony murder in connection with the shooting and will be tried as an adult. The GBI said additional charges are expected.

His father, Colin Gray, is also facing charges.  Colin Gray is accused of knowingly allowing his son, Colt Gray, to possess a weapon, according to the GBI.
