BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — Barrow County Schools announced the district will welcome most students back to classes beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Apalachee High, the school devastated by the tragic shooting that left four dead on Wednesday, will still remain closed, the district said.

"We believe we need to be together as soon as possible to move forward and to provide some sense of familiarity for our students," Dr. Dallas LeDuff, the Barrow County Schools superintendent said in a statement posted to the district website.

The district also announced it would have extra security and support -- of which includes more law enforcement officers at each Barrow County school.

Georgia Emergency Management is setting up a community recovery center at Barrow Leisure Services Center -- located at 175 2nd St. -- on Monday from noon to 5 p.m. and on Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will offer free resources and mental health services.

"We are in this together, and as a community, we will continue to care for one another," LeDuff said.
