Georgia Sec. of State Brad Raffensperger questioned by feds in Trump case

It is a federal case looking into effort to overturn 2020 election.

ATLANTA — Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger spent some time with federal investigators Wednesday as they pursue yet another possible criminal case against former President Donald Trump.

It was a closed door meeting that lasted maybe a couple of hours.

Raffensperger met with federal investigators at an office in the Sloppy Floyd state office building across from the capitol.

Raffensperger is a key witness because Trump made a phone call to the Georgia secretary of state in January 2021 to ask him to find enough votes to overturn Joe Biden’s 11,000 plus vote margin of victory in Georgia.

We asked Raffensperger to talk with us Wednesday. His office said he was unavailable.

This is a federal investigation that appears to overlap with the one underway by Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis – which is specifically examining whether Trump interfered with the Georgia election.  That case could see an indictment later this summer.

Federal grand juries in New York and Florida have already indicted Trump in other cases.

Trump, who is running for reelection in 2024, has been telling supporters that the prosecutions are politically-motivated efforts to undermine his candidacy.
