ATLANTA — Attorneys for former President Donald Trump and several of his codefendants will try to get a Fulton County judge to throw out charges in the Georgia 2020 election case on Friday.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee will hear a series of motions meant to poke holes in or dismiss District Attorney Fani Willis' sprawling racketeering case against Trump and the network of attorneys, Republican officials, and others who sought to keep him in the White House.

The hearing comes as prosecutors push for an August 2024 trial start date for Trump and his remaining 14 codefendants. Attorneys for the former president oppose the proposed start date.
A Fulton County grand jury indicted Trump and 18 others in August. To date, four people have taken plea deals.
