8 Big Lots stores in Georgia appear to be closing | Here's where

The retailer is reportedly closing about 300 stores across the nation.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — The retailer Big Lots is closing stores around the country, reportedly as many as 300, and some of those closures appear to be occurring in Georgia.

The chain industry news outlet Chain Store Age reported this week that Big Lots filed with the federal government in June that it expected to close 35-40 stores this year. But the number appears to be far higher based on closing notices that accompany store location pages on the Big Lots website.

You can see the list of Georgia's 51 Big Lots locations here. On most store pages -- such as the one in Atlanta -- the top of the page features a link to sign up for the Big Lots "Big Ideas" customer program.

But on others, a "Closing This Location" bar appears at the top, along with a notice indicating discounts of up to 20% at closing locations.
