Someone won $15 million in a Georgia state lottery game

The Jumbo Bucks Lotto, estimated at $15.2 million, was won Sunday according to Georgia Lottery figures.

ATLANTA — It's sometimes easy to forget amid the hysteria of riding a wave with one of the huge national lottery games, Powerball and Mega Millions, but the state of Georgia has its own similar games that can produce big winnings, too.

Case in point: On Sunday, someone in the Peach State won $15 million.

Georgia Lottery figures show a jackpot winner of $15.2 million in the Jumbo Bucks Lotto game, which is a number pick-em game with a drawing much like Powerball or Mega Millions.

In the Sunday, July 10 drawing, someone in Georgia matched six numbers for the jackpot.

According to Georgia Lottery, the Jumbo Bucks Lotto jackpot starts at $1 million and keeps growing until someone wins. The odds of a jackpot are 1 in 10.737 million. Smaller prizes are available at $500 (for matching five numbers), $50 (four numbers) and $5 (three numbers).

It costs $1 to play a ticket, and there are two drawings a week - Mondays and Thursdays at 11 p.m.
