ATLANTA — Two suspected culprits behind a series of overnight crimes in Atlanta have been caught by police.
The incidents all happened in the early morning hours of Wednesday in the area of Moores Mill Road and Northside Parkway. In all, the suspects allegedly burglarized five garages. Police said that the men approached five different homes, entered the vehicles parked outside and broke into the garage and then broke into vehicles parked there as well.
In all, 18-year-old Michael Hill, 26-year-old Jaquantay Campbell and one other person are accused of stealing four vehicles, taking two from the area and leaving the other two nearby. One was even found parked along a roadside with the engine running and a door open.
Officials said they also damaged one garage frame during an escape that morning and stole a generator from another garage.
With help from East Point Police, Atlanta investigators were able to track the suspects to the neighboring city. Through a team effort between the two departments and the Georgia State Patrol, police were able to arrest two of the three suspects in the case and recover the two other cars. They also found the vehicle used to commit the crime - which was also stolen.
During the arrest, police found a stolen gun on one of the suspects. Now, police are in the process of going through evidence and sorting out stolen property they've already recovered. They are also working to see if the suspects are connected to any other crimes.
While more charges are anticipated, both Hill and Campbell face charges of burglary and entering automobiles.
