SweetWater offers free beers to furloughed feds

Government employees can get two free beers at the Atlanta brewery if they show the right ID.

Atlanta's own SweetWater Brewery is treating federal employees impacted by the partial government shutdown.

On Twitter, the brewery offered two free drinks to federal employees who provide a government identification to bar staff.

"If you're a furloughed federal employee, we think you deserve a drink or two," the tweet said.

The decision comes as the U.S. government shutdown reaches its 18th day as Congress and the president continue to battle over a spending bill.

The shutdown means many government employees are unable to work - or must work without pay - until an agreement.

President Donald Trump is fighting to include funding for a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico. However, a now Democrat-controlled House of Representatives is pushing back.

It's unclear how long the special offer from SweetWater will continue the offer, but it doesn't look like the shutdown is likely to end overnight with a recent incident where Democrats claim he stormed out of a meeting with them on Wednesday.

SweetWater Brewery, located off of Ottley Drive in Atlanta, has been in business since 1997 and is one of the state's largest breweries.
