The Oconee County Sheriff's Office is conducting a murder investigation after a 19-year-old died from what might have been an attack.
Deputies are looking for clues to find out what happened to Joseph Kendall Jackson.
Authorities said they received a 911 call around midnight on July 17 that the teen had returned home with significant injuries. He was rushed to the hospital where he died.
"The Jackson/Gordon family is in mourning and the Sheriff's Office expresses our sympathy to his friends and loved ones," the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post.
Deputies believe Jackson was possibly injured in an attack outside of his home near the corner of Whippoorwill Road and Cumberland Drive.
But investigations need help from witnesses to solve this crime, which they are treating as a murder. They are asking anyone who might have seen something that night to come forward. They are also looking for any recent vehicles that might have unexplained side window damage.
Deputies said a large amount of window safety glass was found at the scene.
