LOCUST GROVE, Ga. -- A fundraiser was held Saturday for the family of a slain Locust Grove police officer and two Henry County deputies wounded in the same shooting.
Several hundred people were expected to participate in "The Chase" , a 5K/1M benefit run/walk.
Chase Maddox, a Locust Grove Police Officer, was shot and killed after being shot three times as he assisted deputies in serving a warrant on Feb. 9. Two Henry County Sheriff's deputies, Deputy Ralph "Sid" Callaway and Deputy Michael Corely, were wounded. The suspect, Tierre Guthrie, was killed.

Maddox's widow, Alex, gave birth to a son, Bodie, days after the shooting.
Congressman Jody Hice kicked off the ceremony by presenting flags to Alex Maddox and the injured deputies.
Alex Maddox said she
"The support has been a rock," Maddox said. "You go back and forth with a whirlwind of emotions and having a baby, and having our other son and having to deal with everything. But staying focused and seeing all these charity events...just seeing everybody remember my amazing husband is what we need."
The fallen officer was laid to rest on Saturday, Feb. 17. Alex Maddox issued a statement days later thanking supporters.
