ATLANTA — A tree falling across a parking deck at Emory University is being blamed for damage to several cars and causing one injury Wednesday morning.
University officials said it happened at about 8 a.m. on Lowergate Drive. Debris from the tree fell on five unoccupied cars and two that were entering the parking deck.
The 11Alive Storm Trackers are warning of additional trees falling across the region due to weakened soil conditions from expected heavy rains, high winds and thunderstorms beginning late Wednesday afternoon.
A flash flood watch has been issued for much of metro Atlanta through Thursday evening.
The university said a tree removal service was working to remove the tree and debris over the course of the morning.
Officials say that only one person was hurt in the incident. That person's injuries were considered minor.
