Major parts of Atlanta remain under a boil water advisory Tuesday, as the city continues to test water after a “control issue” ‘at the Hemphill Pump Station in northwest Atlanta.
The boil water advisory is in effect until further notice.
Question: Can you use your coffee maker during a boil water advisory?
Answer: Most coffee makes cannot maintain high temperatures for a long enough time to make the water safe to drink. Coffee can be made by using water that has already been boiled for one minute before adding to the coffee maker. Or, make coffee using bottled water, health officials said.
If you’re using an automatic shut-off kettle, make sure the water has boiled for one minute before you use it.
