Is Chick-fil-A replacing waffle fries? In short: No

The internet was sent into a panic after a TikTok user posted a since deleted video making the claim. But don't worry, it's not true.
According to a Chick-fil-A news release, the Halcyon location will be locally operated by Colby Cameron, a Snellville native and independent franchise owner.

Don't worry, the rumors are false - Chick-fil-A is not replacing their waffle fries!

Internet users seemed a little salty after a video posted online spread a rumor that the iconic side was changing its shape. So, 11Alive went straight to the Atlanta-based company to get the answer.

THE QUESTION

Is Chick-fil-A getting rid of its waffle fries?

THE SOURCE

  • Chick-fil-A Inc.

THE ANSWER

No, Chick-fil-A is not getting rid of waffle fries.

This is false.

WHAT WE FOUND

In a statement to 11Alive, Chick-fil-A Inc. said that "Chick-fil-A Guests do not need to worry - our much-loved Waffle Fries are not going anywhere!"

The rumor began on July 20, when a TikTok user posted a video - which she has since deleted - saying she was a Chick-fil-A employee and that the franchise was planning to discontinue their iconic fries. She was eating a regular-shaped fry in the video, which seemed to be the final nail in the coffin to send the internet into a panic.

Reactions varied from regular disappointment to anger to out-right despair. Some simply posted wishes that the rumor was untrue, while others reacted with memes.

Some social media users perpetuated the myth with fake images that appeared to be from the Chick-fil-A app, showing a screen where customers could order regular fries.

But, the answer from Chick-fil-A seems pretty cut-and-dry: The waffle fries are here to stay.
