Pop superstar Taylor Swift endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president ahead of the 2024 election. Following Harris’ loss to former President Donald Trump, social media posts claimed that Swift canceled her Eras Tour in states that predominately voted for Trump.

One viral Facebook post says “Taylor Swift Cuts RED STATES from Tour After Massive red wave” and features photos of Swift alongside a U.S. map color-coded in blue and red to show the election results. This blog post says Swift allegedly made the announcement via a “passionate Instagram post.”

THE QUESTION

Did Taylor Swift cancel Eras Tour stops in red states after the election?

THE SOURCES

THE ANSWER

This is false.

No, Taylor Swift didn’t cancel the Eras Tour in red states after the election.

WHAT WE FOUND

Taylor Swift didn’t cancel her Eras Tour after the 2024 presidential election. The rumor appears to have originated on SpaceXMania, a satire website known for posting fake stories about trending topics.

On Nov. 9, SpaceXMania published a story claiming Swift made the announcement about the tour cancellation on Instagram. The article said Swift “declared she would no longer be performing in states that voted for Trump, explaining that she can’t ‘in good conscience bring her music to places that support divisive and regressive leaders.’”

SpaceXMania’s website and its Facebook page, The Patriot Lovers, make it clear that their content is satire. The Facebook post with the false claim about Swift appeared on The Patriot Lovers’ site on Nov. 9, with “SATIRE” in capital letters at the end of the post.

SpaceXMania’s website “About” section says:

“We are a team of writers and editors based in New York, USA. Our mission? To bring you the freshest fake news, some sassy analysis, and a good dose of satire, all rolled into one crazy concoction that orbits around Elon Musk and everything that’s lighting up the viral/trending charts.”

Swift has not commented publicly about the 2024 presidential election results, contrary to what the satirical article and post claimed. The last U.S. concert of her tour was held in Indianapolis on Nov. 3, before the election.

In August 2023, Swift announced her 2024 North America tour dates, with Indianapolis listed as the final U.S. stop before the tour moves to Canada. Swift’s tour is scheduled to be in Canada through Sunday, Dec. 8. There are no U.S. tour dates on Swift’s schedule after Dec. 8.

VERIFY reached out to Swift’s representatives for comment, but did not hear back at the time of publication.
