Dunwoody United Methodist Church, in partnership with Rise Against Hunger and Simpsonwood United Methodist Church, will bring together 1,200 community volunteers to assemble more than 300,000 dehydrated meals for children in need across the globe.
FoodStock 2018 will take place on Saturday, August 11, at Dunwoody UMC on Mt. Vernon Road.
Volunteer shifts are still available in 2-hour time slots, starting from 8 to 4 p.m.
Volunteers form large assembly lines to bag the meals, which are made of rice, soybeans, vegetables and 21 essential vitamins.
The result of this work amounts to 20 tons of food and fills an entire shipping container.
It is shipped immediately to those in need.
Rise Against Hunger primarily targets children through school lunch programs but expands to the community it is serving based on need.
During the past seven years, the church and community have packaged more than 2,100,000 meals.
