Was it a tornado or a downburst that hit Forsyth County?

A drone video shows damage to portions of Cumming and Forsyth County from early Saturday morning.

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — The National Weather Service is reviewing video taken from a drone over portions of Forsyth County on Saturday to determine if damage to trees and structures came from a tornado or not.

The drone flew over areas that were hit by a storm during the early morning hours of Saturday, June 22.

The video shows images of homes and trees over portions of Cumming, and nearby areas of Forsyth County which were hard-hit by strong winds during Friday night's severe weather.

We received the video through the 11Alive Storm Trackers Facebook group from Matt Eash and Brad Bretz, who both live in the area viewed in the video.

11Alive's Nick Sturdivant spoke to Matt Eash in Cumming, who was cleaning up from the aftermath of the storm.

"We are going to have a couple of weeks of clean-up I think for sure," he said.

Eash said the storm was fast-moving and they didn't get a lot of warning.

"It took a few seconds to really realize what the sound was that we heard coming out. So, has soon as we jumped out of bed I met him (his son) in the hallway and we made it to the basement just when the storm hit," Eash said. "When the winds really picked up. It lasted about 20 seconds and then we were left with the aftermath of the mess."

Eash said the storm took down 30 trees in his yard, which left him without power. Despite that, he said it could have been much worse.

"Not a single thing hit the house," he said.
