SALEM, N.H.(WHDH) -- A family of five faces a judge on Wednesday after attacking two police officers at Canobie Lake Park.
Salem Police said security stopped the family when some of them tried to get into the park with buck knives on their belts. Officials said the family became belligerent, with one member being combative as officers tried to handcuff him. This prompted other family members to attack.
According to recently obtained surveillance video, a teen grabs one officer from behind by his waist and officials fight back. Even on the ground, the suspects keep going.
The five family members, all from Vermont, were taken into custody. Only three are facing felony charges connected to the fight.
The family had numerous opportunities and warnings to leave the park.
One officer suffered bumps and bruises while another suffered a separated shoulder.
"He is in good spirits. He wants to get back to work. Like you say, it is unfortunate that he was injured. We are glad that everything turned out all right," said a Salem police officer.
