ATLANTA — The very large storm system, lately identified in meteorological form as a "bomb cyclone", will bring the chance for severe weather tonight for part of Georgia.
In particular, northwest Georgia seems to have the best set up for storms to remain severe as they move out of Alabama and into the northwestern corner of the state.
Damaging wind gusts and tornadoes are the main concerns, but lighting and heavy rainfall can be expected as well in the risk areas outlined above.
Storms will move into northwest Georgia late this evening into tonight. The threat for severe storms arrives after 8 p.m. and looks to continue until 3 a.m. Friday.
As the line pushes in the Atlanta metro, the severe weather threat looks to diminish but it's not totally out of the question storms to remain at severe strength.
The rainfall will be tough to get rid of through the morning and early afternoon as scattered showers hang around north and central Georgia.
