ATLANTA — We are just a few days away from the solar eclipse. The big event will happen on Monday, April 8, and many people are wondering what time it begins and how long it will last.
For Atlanta, the eclipse will begin at 1:45 p.m.
The eclipse will last for quite some time, and we won't hit its peak until 3:04 p.m., when the sun will be 80% to 85% covered.
If you are too busy to catch the eclipse at those times, it will still be happening until 4:21 p.m.
The path of totality, or the area where the sun will be completely covered, is off to our northwest, stretching from Texas all of the way up to Maine.
The current forecast for the eclipse here in north Georgia shows cloud cover increasing, but we will hopefully get a few peaks at the eclipse behind that cloud cover.
