Metro Atlanta high school football player makes college pick

AJ Hoffler plays as a strongside defensive end for Woodward Academy and has offers from 51 schools, according to Rivals.com.

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — A high school football player from College Park made his college pick on Tuesday.

AJ Hoffler is a strongside defensive end at Woodward Academy and was offered a spot at 51 schools, according to Rivals.com.

"I'll be taking my talents to Clemson University," he said, as he put on a hoodie with the iconic orange paw print.

Hoffler also thanked God and his mother for helping him further his athletic career.

When asked why Clemson, the high school football star said the choice was rooted in a feeling.

"It was just the family vibe I got," he said, adding the coaches and players showed him love as he weighed his options. "It was an easy decision for me."

The teen also highlighted how family is important to him and he was celebrating his future on his mother's birthday.

"My mom had to fly in from Chicago, drop everything she was doing like she has done her whole life for me and my brother -- I'm always appreciative of that," he said.

He said committing on her birthday was a way to make her feel special and recognize his biggest fan in a major way.

"I just wanted to thank everyone who has supported me through this time," he said, closing out his commitment announcement.
