ATLANTA — Clark Atlanta University announced it has selected a new head football coach to lead the Panthers.

Teddy Keaton began serving as the new head coach-- effective Monday, university officials said in a new release.

The university will hold a press conference on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Epps Gymnasium to officially introduce Coach Keaton.

"We are thrilled to have Coach Teddy Keaton join Clark Atlanta University as the new head coach of the Panthers football program. His experience and success in the SIAC make him an ideal fit for our University,” CAU President George T. French, Jr. said in a release. “We are confident that Coach Keaton's leadership will take the Panthers to new heights and are excited for the future of our football program under his guidance."

Keaton has previously worked with the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), served as the head coach and quarterbacks coach and the Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance and Contracts at Allen University in South Carolina.

While at Allen University, Keaton had a 7-3 overall record in 2023, which was the program's winning percentage since its resurgence in 2018.

"We are delighted to welcome Coach Teddy Keaton to the Clark Atlanta University family. His impressive coaching background and commitment to excellence align seamlessly with our vision for the Panthers football program. We look forward to an exciting era of success under his leadership," Athletic Director of Clark Atlanta University Jerel Drew said in the release.

The new head coach announcement comes after CAU dismissed its former head football coach, Willie Slater, back in October.
