ATHENS, Ga. — A top quarterback transfer who'd committed to UGA earlier this week has already evidently changed his mind.
Just days after committing to the Bulldogs, University of Nevada-Las Vegas QB Jayden Maiava reportedly switched his transfer commitment to the University of Southern California.
Adam Gorney with Rivals reported the commitment flip.
Maiava had previously been a target of UGA Coach Kirby Smart's, and it appeared he would be coming to Athens to compete for the backup spot behind Carson Beck. Instead he'll reportedly head to USC, where a starting opportunity may be easier to come by with Caleb Williams departing for the NFL.
Maiava threw for 3,085 yards and 17 touchdowns, to 10 interceptions, for UNLV in 2023.
