ATHENS, Ga. — Nearly one week after Georgia hired away Travaris Robinson, one of the key pieces of Alabama's coaching staff, 11Alive's insiders at UGASports.com discovered how much money the new UGA co-defensive coordinator will make.

Robinson will make $1.3 million in 2024 to serve in the role that he will now share with co-defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann, who makes $1.9 million -- UGA's highest-paid assistant.

The former Alabama cornerbacks coach becomes the second-highest-paid assistant on head coach Kirby Smart's staff. Last year, Robinson made $800,000 while coaching on Nick Saban's staff.

Robinson replaces Will Muschamp, who served as the co-defensive coordinator for the past two seasons. Muschamp will still be around but is scaling back his time with the team by transitioning back into a defensive analyst -- a position he held with the team in 2021 -- in order to spend more time with his family.

Muschamp was making $850,000 in his latest role but will now make $50,000 in the defensive analyst role.

Robinson was South Carolina's defensive coordinator from 2016 to 2020 before working for one year as Miami's cornerbacks coach and three seasons at Alabama.

“Travaris has 17 years of college coaching experience, including over a decade in the SEC mentoring some of the top defenses statistically in the NCAA," Georgia coach Kirby Smart said in a statement.

Raises are also expected for other UGA assistants this offseason, including offensive coordinator Mike Bobo.
