The bowl selections are out ... This is where UGA be for the New Year's day

No. 5 Georgia (11-2 overall) dropped one crucial slot in the final College Football Playoff rankings, compared to last week.

The worst-kept secret in college football has become official.

As a consequence to its perceived 'snub' with the final College Football Playoff rankings, No. 5 UGA will play in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1, representing the SEC as a non-champion entrant.

The opponent: Georgia will face Texas (10-3 overall), which is also representing its conference (Big 12) as a non-champion entrant.

Kickoff time set for 8:45 p.m.

It'll be the nightcap for a football-heavy day that includes the four other bowl outings, including the Fiesta (LSU and UCF) and Rose (Ohio State-Washington).
