ATLANTA -- Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets safety Jalen Johnson was arrested for simple battery and taken to Fulton County jail early Sunday morning, according to county jail records.

The records match Johnson's full name, hometown address of Oneonta, Ala. and his physical description.

Campus police made the arrest for battery at the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity house at 1 a.m., according to the campus police's online logs.

Johnson, 20, was booked early Sunday morning, and his bond was set at $5,000, according to the jail's records.

11Alive reached out to Georgia Tech Athletics, but they did not comment on Johnson's arrest since "The Georgia Institute of Technology does not discuss ongoing investigations."

Johnson is a redshirt sophomore and has played in eight games this season, including the Yellow Jackets win over Duke on Saturday. He has five total tackles this season.
